On Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September, Staircase House and Bramall Hall, two of Stockport Council’s wonderful heritage attractions, are taking part in Heritage Open Days (HODs) 2013.
HODs takes place every year and celebrates England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to places that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.
Staircase House will open its doors free of change for one day only, on Saturday 14th September, between 10.00am and 5.00pm. This historic house situated in Stockport’s market place lets visitors delve into the past of the borough’s oldest Town House and discover how our ancestors lived from the 15th to the 20th century. On Sunday 15th September Bramall Hall is offering free family friendly guided tours. Discover this magnificent black and white timber framed Tudor manor house set in 70 acres of parklands. On the tour you will see beautiful Tudor rooms with Victorian additions giving an unparalleled insight into the families and servants who have lived and worked at the Hall. In addition to Stockport Council’s HODs activities there are a number of other properties opening up in and around Stockport. The Stockport Heritage Trust have put together a self–guided trail round Stockport’s fascinating historic quarter with a selection of heritage venues opening their doors and retailers offering special attractions on the day.
