Social media channels are a part of everyday life for many of us both personally and in business. How we reach our friends and business partners and how we communicate brand messages has changed massively over the past few years.
Chrissie Christian from Amshire asks “HOW ADDICTIVE IS TWITTER AND LINKEDIN?”
“I truly did not want to use Twitter and remember saying so back in 2012 when asked to look at “tweeting” for Amshire. My thoughts were that Twitter etc., was for the youngsters and certainly not for me.
“How wrong I was. Now look at me – Twitter Goddess (well I like to think so). Incredible, considering I’m nearer to retirement age!
Chrissie is responsible for Amshire’s social media interaction and tweets on behalf of the business. Lately she has discovered the benefits of LinkedIn to promote Amshire Solutions Ltd as much as possible.
Said Chrissie (pictured left) :
I’m still a novice with LinkedIn. I know there are many other platforms that come under the umbrella of “social media” but at present I’m happy with the two I use. I have taken guidance on the best way to tweet and loved the conversations, help, and advice, but more importantly the encouragement from my new friends via Twitter.
“The most important thing I feel which must be remembered though, is that “social media” is all about connecting with people; people like to buy from people and they like to see who is behind a business. I like to think it’s simply another tick in the ‘trust’ box.”
Despite her initial protestsChrissie now admits to being addictive to both spending 2 hours every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings joining in relevant Twitter conversations to help push Amshire out into a bigger audience, often finding it hard to “sign out”.
And Chrissie has some hints as to how to make the best of opportunites:
“My best moment to date is when Amshire were chosen for Small Business Sunday #SBS by Theo Paphitis on 16th March 2014. Anyone looking for a re‐tweet from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5:00pm and 7.30pm including the hashtag #SBS. Six lucky businesses are then retweeted every Monday at 8:00pm and invited to enter their profile on his website. This is done free of charge and the website is sponsored by Ryman Stationery, where Theo is Chairman.”
Amshire entered the Theo Paphitis #SBS Winners Power Leaderboard by Social Marketme TV at number 34!
“Now how many tweets have I got to read and respond to, as well as connections to check on?”
