GCSE success for Trafford & Stockport College Group students

Trafford & Stockport College Group is celebrating the incredible achievements of its GCSE students: over 1,900 sat more than 5,000 GCSE exams across the group’s campuses this summer.

A record number of learners successfully completed their qualifications and progressing to the next stage of their education and careers. 

GCSE results reflect the hard work and determination shown by learners throughout the year, supported by dedicated teaching and support teams across the college group’s campuses across Stockport and Trafford. 

While exam success remains an important milestone, TSCG recognises that every learner’s journey is different. 

The Group welcomes discussions around the future of GCSE resits and believes young people should be supported to follow the pathway that best suits their aspirations, career goals and future plans.  The college believes that an inclusive education system must recognise that success and potential cannot be defined by one qualification or one route. Young people who want to continue with GCSE English and maths should absolutely have that opportunity, but for others meaningful alternatives are needed that develop the skills they need for their chosen career and enable them to progress with confidence. 

One of Trafford College’s standout GCSE students this year is David Guzman. David moved to Manchester in 2023 after relocating from Colombia. He studied GCSE English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, achieving top grades in his science subjects. As a result, he will now progress to study A Levels in Chemistry, Physics and Maths at Trafford College.  David said,

“I looked to my teachers for personal support, and I wouldn’t have chosen a different college because I love it here and they have helped me through a transition period in my life. 

“I am now staying here to study A Levels. I have built really close relationships with my teachers. Studying is hard and there are times when it makes you want to cry, but it’s worth it when you get the opportunity to go to university. 

“I love studying and learning about the world, and chemistry just clicked with me.”
