Cyber criminals are now exploiting one of the most routine tasks we perform on our computers.

Most of us don’t think twice when Windows tells us an update is available.

We click Install, make a cup of tea and get on with our day.

It’s a habit built on trust.

Unfortunately, cyber criminals know that.

They’re now creating fake Windows 11 update pages that closely resemble Microsoft’s own, hoping users will download malware instead of a genuine security update.

Why this matters

Years ago, many scams were relatively easy to spot.

Poor spelling, strange email addresses and unprofessional looking websites often gave them away.

Today, that’s no longer the case.

Modern cyber attacks are designed to blend into everyday business activity. Fake update pages can closely mirror Microsoft’s branding, wording and layout, making them far more convincing than many people expect.

That means even experienced users can be caught off guard.
