Stockport County reveals revenue growth in 2024/25 financial results

Stockport County Football Club has revealed significant revenue growth in its financial results for the year ending 30th June 2025.

The year saw significant progress both on and off the pitch in its long-term journey, culminating it is best results in over a decade, and setting a new club record for its performance in the third tier, reaching third place in League One with 87 points.

The club recorded 12 consecutive seasons of progression in league position, underlining a sustained period of growth that has seen County rise from the National League North to a return to League One after a 15-year absence. This continued progress reflects a club strengthening its identity while building the foundations required to compete at higher levels.

Ken Knott, Chairman of Stockport County, commented:

“To achieve our highest league finish in 23 years is a real reflection of the hard work, commitment and belief that runs right through this football club. We continue to grow stronger each year, both on and off the pitch.”

Off the pitch, Stockport County also recorded a total revenue of £11.5 million, an increase of 25.6%, with growth across all its core revenue streams: matchday, commercial, conferencing and retail. Attendance at Edgeley Park has also increased to an average of 9.758, with capacity utilisation at 90%. The stadium’s development as a venue also saw Edgeley Park host 390 events across the season.

Despite the growth in revenue, the club reported an operating loss of £9.1 million, which largely reflects continued investment into the playing squad, infrastructure and organisational capacity required to compete at the top end of League One. This loss has been offset by £10.2 million of owner funding during 2024/25, fully converted into equity, and keeping the club free of operating debt. Player trading also generated £1.1 million in profit, demonstrating progress in developing the squad as the club looks to take over Stockport Sports Village in late 2026 as a new training facility.

The club’s role within the community continues to grow, reinforcing its position as a community anchor institution. Through Stockport County Community Trust:

• Over 10,000 local residents engaged in programmes across health, education and inclusion
• More than 3,000 free PE kits distributed to young people
• £30,000 invested into grassroots football grants
• £5 million in social value generated, with a £1-to-£6 return on investment
