Plans submitted for development of 75 new homes in Woodford

Outline planning permission is being sought from Stockport Council to build a development of 75 new homes off Moor Lane and Jenny Lane in Woodford.

Asteer Planning has made the planning submission on behalf of land promoter, Richborough, and the site’s owner, that will see further new homes permitted in the Stockport village.

The approximately 10-acre site is currently used for grazing and surrounded by housing on all sides. Plans propose 50% affordable housing provision, and a mix of 1- to 4-bedroom houses, as well as 1-bedroom flats, accessed by a new road off Moor Lane. The scheme also proposes approximately 4.5 acres of the site to remain as open space, including a children’s play at the centre of the development.

The scheme sits alongside a number of other major housing developments that are progressing in Woodford. These include Miller Homes’ plans for the site on the opposite side of Jenny Lane, as well as Harrow Estates’ expansion of Woodford Garden Village, and David Wilson Homes’ plans for Swineseye Farm, which would deliver a combined total of more than 1,000 new homes in Woodford.

Housebuilding in the area has prompted TfGM to add a new Bee Network bus service to the village, the 377, which will connect the community to Stockport town centre.
