North West law firm SAS Daniels acted for the trustees of Bollington Leisure Centre as they paved the way for its future expansion in the community of Bollington and surrounding areas by becoming a charitable company,
Bollington Health & Leisure were advised by SAS Daniels on the incorporation. As the charity changed its legal structure, it was also necessary to provide advice to the new company on meeting obligations to its employees prior to and following the incorporation.
Steven Hurst, Manager at Bollington Health & Leisure said
“We’ve been running for almost forty years, sustained by the generosity and hard work of many people. In order to continue to be an asset to the community and provide a much needed exercise facility, we need to be able to expand and develop. The incorporation into a charitable company allows us to invest in our facilities whilst maintaining our not-for-profit and community-focused approach. I am delighted with the work Kaye, Martyn, Rachel and James at SAS Daniels have done to help steer us through this complicated legal process”.
Kaye Whitby, a commercial partner in SAS Daniels’
corporate team, led the incorporation of the charity
supported by Martyn Heyes, whilst Rachel Yorke advised
on the employment matters.
In addition, advice on a restructure and renewal of their lease with Cheshire East Council was provided by James Clarke of SAS Daniels commercial real estate team.
Kaye said:
“Bollington Health & Leisure has been a fixture of the local community for many years, and through this work it has the legal framework in place to remain a mainstay for years to come. We are pleased to have helped Steven and the team put in place the foundations for future growth and development.”
The centre provides swimming lessons for 2500 children each week, has over 1000 gym members and offers many pay as you go options to the local community, such as exercise classes and beauty treatments and has made the move to become incorporated as part of the strategy for continued growth and to enhance all facilities.
