The winners of this year’s Stockport Schools’ Book Awards will be announced during a glittering presentation evening at the Plaza Theatre on 21st November.
Hundreds of Stockport pupils, aged from three to 16 years old, from 30 primary and secondary schools across the borough, read a total of 19 contemporary books during the summer term, and then voted for their favourite authors and illustrators.
The authors and illustrators include many household names in children’s books including the Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson, and Carnegie and Greenaway Medal winners, Patrick Ness and Jim Kay.
The presentation will be attended by over 500 children, parents, teachers and governors in evening dress eager to discover the winners as they are revealed in an Oscar-style ceremony. The dress theme this year is Crowns and Coronets. The winning authors and illustrators will be present to receive their awards which is a piece of original artwork inspired by the winning title and created by a pupil from one of the schools.
