The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) has launched a new podcast series to help employers and safeguarding professionals better understand its services and processes.
Each episode of the DBS Discussions: Safeguarding in Focus podcast will feature a subject matter expert from DBS who will discuss key topics relevant to employers, HR professionals, and those working in safeguarding.
In the debut episode, which went live on 9th February, Regional Outreach Manager, Jordan Hayden, introduces the function of DBS to listeners, discussing the impact of checks in recruitment and why DBS holds its position as a trusted organisation in the safeguarding space.
The podcast aims to:
- explain DBS processes
- answer common questions from employers and organisations
- provide clarity on eligibility, regulated activity and barring decisions
- support better understanding of how DBS contributes to safeguarding
Cathy Taylor, Acting Head of Partnerships at DBS, said:
“We know that employers and safeguarding professionals often have questions about DBS checks and how our services work. DBS Discussions gives us the opportunity to share our expertise directly and help organisations feel more confident in their understanding of disclosure and barring in an easy, digestible way. We hope listeners find it a valuable resource.”
DBS Discussions: Safeguarding in Focus is available on Spotify, Amazon and YouTube. The first episode launched on Monday 9th February, with new episodes released weekly.
