Manchester Airports Group (MAG) welcomed a total of 5.5 million passengers across its three sites in April, a 0.6% increase on the same month in 2025.
The Group – which owns and operates Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports – had a rolling 12-month passenger total of 66.3 million passengers, an increase of 1.5% year-on-year.
However, with disruption to flights ongoing in the Middle East, Manchester Airport saw a slight decline in its year-on-year passenger numbers, with 2.6 million flying through the North’s international gateway in April, a reduction of 2.6% on the previous year, bringing to an end a long-running streak of record-breaking months for the airport. Manchester Airport’s rolling 12-month total stood at 32.3 million passengers, up 2.7% year-on-year.
Elsewhere at other MAG airports, 2.6 million passengers travelled through London Stansted in April – a 3.2% increase on the same month last year – in large part thanks to the airport’s large European network of destinations served. Its rolling 12-month passenger total was 30.1 million passengers, a 0.5% increase.
East Midlands Airport, meanwhile, served more than 337,000 passengers in April, a 5.5% increase year-on-year. The airport also handled more than 34,000 tonnes of cargo across the month, up 24% on the same month last year.
All three MAG airports also saw strong operational performance across April. At London Stansted 100% of passengers passed through security in 15 minutes or less; at Manchester Airport and East Midlands, the figure was 99%.
