Stockport-based SQS has been named among the 185 winners of this year’s King’s Awards for Enterprise, which celebrates the achievements of UK businesses in contributing to economic growth and improving lives.
SQS was among just 20 firms in the North West to receive the prestigious award, securing a King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. Founded in 1991, the business supports complex projects across the energy, infrastructure and science sectors in over 50 countries, and provides inspection, expediting and supply chain assurance services.
Lisa Roberts (pictured), Managing Director of SQS, and who also serves as President of the Stockport Branch of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said:
“Winning the King’s Award for Enterprise is an incredibly proud moment for everyone at SQS. Founded and grown in Stockport, we may work with clients across the world, but our business is built on the values, talent and community we’ve developed right here at home.
“This award recognises the trust our global clients place in us, the expertise of our international inspection network, and our commitment to doing business the right way. And as a certified B Corp, we believe that sustainable growth, innovation and integrity should sit at the heart of everything we do, values that have shaped our journey from Stockport to a global business.”
This year marks a significant milestone for the Awards, as they celebrate 60 years since the first honours were conferred in 1966, then as The Queen’s Award for Enterprise. Alongside categories recognising success in International Trade, Innovation, Sustainability and Promoting Opportunity, this year’s awards also included a new Young Founder award for entrepreneurs under 30 for the first time.
His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenants – The King’s representatives in each county – will be presenting the Awards to businesses locally throughout the year. One representative from each successful business will also be invited to a special Royal reception event. Recipients of the award are also entitled to display the King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
