Developer Stonebond Properties, housing provider, Great Places, and landowner, Stockport County, have launched a public consultation on plans for approximately 350 new homes in Cheadle Hulme.
The site off Grove Lane, a nine-acre plot of a mix of both brownfield and undeveloped land, encompasses the Hulme Hall Playing Fields and land adjacent to the A555 dual carriageway.
Developers are currently working on a formal planning application for the scheme, which will deliver 350 homes across two phases, 150 on the playing fields and 200 on the remainder of the site. Houses will comprise a mix of detached, semi-detached and mews properties of two to four bedrooms, which will all be made available via shared ownership and affordable rent, and managed by Great Places.
Ahead of a a planning submission to Stockport Council for the first phase of 150 new homes, developers are seeking views on their proposals from local residents via an online consultation, which runs until July 31st 2025.
Mark Russell, managing director of Stonebond Properties, said:
“This development seeks to provide hundreds of affordable homes for the Stockport community, while ensuring that our younger generation has access to some of the best sporting education and community activities possible through SCEPL initiatives.
“The site is sustainably located near existing services and amenities, and we are ensuring that measures are incorporated into the development to respond to the climate crisis, whilst also delivering on the Government’s ambition to build more homes.”
Stockport County, which owns the site, will use sale of the homes to support sports education for children and young people in the borough, including investment in facilities and promotion of community participation in sport through a recently incorporated arm, Stockport County Education Pathway Ltd.
Full details of the proposals can be found on the consultation website, where feedback on the plans can also be submitted to developers.
