Regeneration specialist Cityheart has celebrated the topping out of Bosden, the first building set to complete at Stopford Park, a landmark new neighbourhood situated in the heart of Stockport.
The topping out marks an exciting step forward for Cityheart in the delivery of the development, ahead of apartments being released for sale early spring 2026. As a playful nod to Stockport’s iconic hat-making heritage and reference to their If the Hat Fits marketing campaign, the project team raised a ceremonial hat as they reached the highest point of construction. The moment honours the town’s past while signalling to the bright future taking shape at Stopford Park.
Located next to the War Memorial Art Gallery, Stopford Park is a landmark 442 home development that will transform a key portion of Stockport’s town centre into a thriving residential-led quarter packed with colour, creativity and community. As well as public realm, the development will feature a landscaped ‘Art Park’ for residents to enjoy. The development is made up of:
- Torkington – the sensitive conversion of a former education building to create 122 new Build-to-Rent homes, complete with a residents’ lounge and rooftop terrace
- Lyme – a striking 16-storey residential tower comprising 258 apartments
- Bosden – the first new building set to complete, delivering 62 high-quality homes for sale
Together with its construction partner Oak Construction, Cityheart is preparing for completion and handover of Bosden to residents next year. The teams are also progressing at pace on Torkington, with Headoffice3 now on site and construction well underway.
Alongside its residential offer, Stopford Park will also revitalise one of Stockport’s most notable heritage assets. The Grade II listed Greek Street Building, formerly the Metropolitan Girls’ School, will undergo a thoughtful restoration this autumn to become Cheers & Smith – a contemporary flexible workspace hub inspired by the architects behind its original design. The restored building will provide co-working and studios for local businesses and community organisations, bringing new life and energy to the town’s historic Art College building.
Greg Ball, Development Director at Cityheart, said:
“This topping out marks fantastic progress for the Stopford Park community. Bosden will provide superb homes for sale in the heart of this thriving town. Stopford Park is set to become an exciting new place for people to live, work and socialise.”
Stockport Council Leader, Cllr Mark Roberts, said:
“Today’s [16 December] topping out of Bosden is a significant milestone in the delivery of Stopford Park and Stockport’s regeneration journey. It’s more than new homes, the development is creating a confident, new urban neighbourhood that signals ambition for our town centre, proudly blending Stockport’s heritage and modern design to breathe new life into historic buildings.
“Alongside the new apartments, the landscaped Art Park will provide a vibrant green space for residents and visitors to relax and connect. Stopford Park plays a key role in the revival of the Royal George Quarter as part of our nationally recognised town centre regeneration programme, led by the Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation, and we’re excited for the scheme to complete next year and welcome new residents to our growing and reimagined town centre.”
