Schoolchildren signed up to raise a record amount of money for a charity for disabled children with communication disorders.
Pupils at Romiley Primary School raised £2,400 for their charity of the year, the Seashell Trust.

Wendy Bray, Seashell Trust
fundraiser, said:
“This is the largest amount I can
remember a primary school ever having
raised for Seashell Trust. The children
should be extremely proud of what they
have achieved to help other children
less fortunate than themselves.”
Romiley Primary’s headteacher Sue Coleman said:
“The school ran a cake sale, collected donations at Christmas, Easter and summer productions and individual children held table top sales both in and out of school.
“Our final fundraising activity was a sponsored signing sing. It was a wonderful event as the whole school came together and watched and listened to each other’s signing and singing. Wendy and Kate from the Seashell Trust were very impressed with the quality of our signing”.
The money will be used to purchase much-needed specialist equipment for the children.
