The ‘We are Stockport’ website is all about celebrating what a great place Stockport is to live and work…and visit! Launched two months ago, the website now has over 7,000 visitors and 1200 twitter followers and is fast becoming known as the ‘one-stop-point-of-information’ for news, events and stories across the borough, covering every walk of life.
We don’t want to keep Stockport’s treasures a secret – they deserve to shine! Many of We are Stockport’s stories are promoted via videos such as Pilkington’s here or NK Theatre Arts here.
We are now starting to capture on camera Stockport’s great places to visit; our sporting, community and leisure accolades as well as more of our fantastic people that champion Stockport as an independent, connected, skilled and proud place.
If you’ve not had chance to watch local artist Chris Cyprus’s take on Stockport, feast your eyes on this. Chris talked to We are Stockport on one of his many visits back to his hometown to paint his favourite landmarks.
So ..what do We are Stockport want from you?
Our next video showcasing our borough’s gems is going to focus on Stockport’s great places to eat and drink. We want ro hear about places that provide more than food and drink – such as Olive Café in Edgeley which hosts police and advice drop-ins as well as serving great coffee, to award winning restaurants such as Damson in Heaton Moor.
We’re looking to hear about food and drink outlets to suit all tastes, whether it’s a Stockport pie from Lord of the Pies; gluten-free fish and chips from Fletchers in Romiley or a night out at the much sought after Indian Tiffin Rooms in Cheadle.
Where do you like to go when you’re eating out, grabbing a quick coffee or fancy something a bit different?
Where would you recommend to a visitor?
