Children from Adswood Primary School were treated to a memorable day out at Chester Zoo this July thanks to support from Stockport-based finance company Together.
The trip gave pupils the chance to explore the renowned zoo and see animals including elephants, giraffes, and bears up close. Each child received an animal-themed goodie bag, and Together covered the cost of transport and entry, ensuring every pupil could take part.
Chester Zoo welcomes nearly 2 million guests every year. It has been the focus of Channel 4’s documentary ‘The Secret Life of the Zoo’, and is the most-visited attraction outside of London.
Adswood Primary, located in Stockport, was identified as a school for the lender to support through Together’s partnership with Stockport County Community Trust, a charity set up to harness the power of football to address social inequalities.
Michelle Smart, Headteacher at Adswood Primary School, said:
“Our visit to Chester Zoo was excellent — you could see from the smiles on all the children’s faces just how much it meant to them!
“Not only did they enjoy a fun-filled and memorable day, but they also had the chance to learn more about our natural world first-hand.
“Trips like these spark curiosity and bring education to life — they’re essential to a child’s learning experience.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Together for funding this trip. Their support made it possible for every child to take part, and it was clear just how much it meant to our school community.”
Richard Rowntree, Group CEO at Together, said:
“Every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy fun and educational experiences, and this trip to Chester Zoo was exactly that.
“Adswood Primary was highlighted to us through our partnership with Stockport County Community Trust, and we were moved by some of the challenges the school faces.
“At Together, giving back to the community is a core part of our ethos. As a company with humble beginnings in Manchester, supporting local initiatives like this is incredibly important to us.
“We are delighted to have been able to work with the school to provide this fun day out, and hope to have the opportunity to support more worthy initiatives like this in the future.”
