Students from 14 specialist education and support facilities* across Greater Manchester and Cheshire came together for the 14th annual Together Trust Summer Music Festival at The Lowry’s Quays Theatre.
During the musical extravaganza, pupils performed music for their peers, members of the public and families in the famous theatre setting.
The Together Trust believes that everyone deserves an equal chance in life, by supporting young people and adults with complex health needs, disabilities and autism, they help to achieve just that.
All three Together Trust specialist schools – Ashcroft School, Inscape House School and Bridge College – which support young people with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and complex needs performed at the event.
Along with specialist education, the charity provides fostering, residential, community and family support to over 2,325 young people and adults in the North West each year.
Jill Sheldrake, Service Director for the Together Trust, said: “I am extremely proud of all the young people who took part in today’s event, the preparation put into their performances really did shine through. It’s fantastic to see the musical talent we have in our schools across the North West.
“A huge thank you to the team at The Lowry, Teaching Personnel and Peter Adamson for their excellent support, and of course to all the students who performed.”
Teaching Personnel – the UK’s largest education supply agency – sponsor the event and staff from its Manchester office went along to show their support.
Kim Hinchliffe, Regional Manager for Teaching Personnel, said: “The Together Trust Summer Music Festival is a fantastic way to bring young people together. Our Manchester SEN branch works very closely with the schools that were taking part, and we are delighted to sponsor the event for a third year as we know how much enjoyment the pupils get from it.”
