Stockport’s Got Talent! From singing to dancing and stand-up comedy Stockport College’s talent show proved to be a real hit with the audience.
Held in the prestigious Peter Barkworth Theatre at the College the final six acts performed in front of more than 300 people.
Acts were judged on technical ability, stage presence, audience response and originality. The panel of experts included Academic Standards Manager Diane Towey, Childhood Studies Lecturer Julie Brown and Wellbeing Adviser Jackie Bryan-Harris
After the show the judges admitted they had great difficulty agreeing on a winner, such was the high standard of talent.
Dave Gradwell who sang an Ed Shearan song Give Me Love Eventually was crowned the winner, he said: “It feels exhilarating, the crowd really supported me and gave me a really good reception.”
The 28-year-old from Gatley whose Studying Level 2 Health and Social Care, Youth Work hopes for a career in the music business.
Dancer Muz Ramson, 19, from Fallowfield came second with his dance group which included Madi and Iram, he said “I am glad I did it, it was an amazing experience. It was an unexpected and feels overwhelmed.”
The sound system and lighting were operated by Paul Lavin, Scott Sturrock and Steve Shuttleworth.
Hosted by Youth Support Worker Matt Bowden and Tom McAllister who helped coordinate the show, both said the show was an absolute success and is already looking forward to next year.
Matt also added: ““I was so proud of the contestants who all did really well on the day despite a considerable amount of nerves. For many of them the audition was the first time they had performed for an audience. They should be proud of themselves because they were all brilliant!”
