Stockport County Community Trust has announced the launch of a new creative wellbeing project to support adults living in the Edgeley and Lancashire Hill neighbourhoods of Stockport.
The What County Means to Me programme will use creative approaches to improve health and wellbeing among Stockport residents, and is being delivered in partnership with Stockport-based Grit Studios.
Participants will benefit from weekly workshops over 10 week at either Edgeley Park or Lancashire Hill and include sessions will local artists that focus on project themed around the football club. Sessions are designed to promote positive mental health through creative projects using a range of different materials and techniques.
Workshops will encourage creativity, self-expression, mindfulness and positive social interaction, while giving participants opportunities to develop new skills and reflect on their experiences. Participants will also be supported to identify ways to continue engaging in positive community and wellbeing activities after the programme ends.
The programme will conclude with a public art exhibition at the Community Wellbeing Hub at Edgeley Park scheduled for February 2027, which will enable participants to share their creative pieces with their family, local residents, other Stockport County supporter and club partners.
The weekly sessions will start week commencing 31st August, taking place on Wednesdays at Lancashire Hill, and Fridays at Edgeley Park.
