Organisations in Stockport will be taking part in the GM Live Well Spring Festival, running from 9th to 23rd March.
The Live Well Spring Festival is being hosted by a partnership led by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, NHS Greater Manchester, local authorities and community organisations, to ensure great everyday support is available in every neighbourhood.
The festival celebrates the people, places and partnerships that help residents live healthier, happier and more connected lives. It brings together community led activities across the borough, highlighting the everyday support available in local neighbourhoods, from trusted community spaces to inclusive activities that help people feel part of where they live.
As part of the festival, residents can get involved in a range of activities, including a Picnic in the Park run by Pure Innovations, with fresh air, fun and wellbeing stalls. Wellbeing walks will take place across the borough, with routes for all abilities, and there is even wellyboot wanging for something a bit different. Women’s Empowerment Day and afternoon tea events will offer celebration and inspiration. Full details of events on in Stockport can be found online here.
Life Leisure will also be running three family-friendly activities over the coming weeks: Family Swim Party on Saturday 14th March, a Community Wellness Walk on Monday 16th March, and Padel Playground on Saturday 21st March, with further information about their events available here.
The activities taking place across the borough reflect the festival wide themes of everyday support, community connection and local participation.
Speaking about the festival, Cllr Dan Oliver, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, said:
“The GM Live Well Festival is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the strength, kindness and creativity that already exists within our communities. Here in Stockport, we are proud of the people and places that help residents feel supported every day, whether that is through a friendly local group, a trusted community space or a simple moment of connection. I would encourage everyone to take a look at what is on and get involved.”
