Stockport NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed its reputation for training excellence by being shortlisted for two national Student Nursing Times Awards.
The trust runs Stepping Hill Hospital and community health services in Stockport.
Stepping Hill nurses Domonique White and Sarah Heywood who work on the hospital’s short stay surgical unit are finalists for the ‘Mentors of the Year’ award. The pair were nominated for their ‘supportive and nurturing’ mentoring of student nurses on the unit.
And the Stockport Intermediate Care Team based in the community have been shortlisted for the ‘Community Placement of the Year’ category. They were nominated for going out of their way to support student placements, and for their enthusiasm and caring attitude which has ‘truly inspired and motivated all students who work alongside them’.
The winning teams will be announced on 28th April.
Judith Morris, Director of Nursing and Midwifery said, “Our nursing teams do so much to support students to succeed in their learning as well as to give excellent care to patients throughout their time with us. I am therefore delighted that the outstanding efforts of two teams have been recognised and wish them the best of luck in their categories. ”
