
Stockport’s market traders have adapted to the new social distancing restrictions brought about by coronavirus and are continuing to trade, despite the market hall itself being closed to the public.
At the end of March, Stockport Market successfully launched an online ordering service for the first time, allowing customers to purchase food and drink items for collection or local delivery.
Stockport Market traders have since expanded the range of fruit and veg, meat and cheese boxes available to purchase through the website.
While traders are grateful to continue to be able to trade, in a short segment on how market traders have adapted to the Covid-19 pandemic aired on BBC News North West Tonight, traders at both Stockport and Warrington markets stressed a desire to return to the usual hustle and bustle of their stalls.
