Stockport County Community Trust has announced a new health and wellbeing project, Wellbeing Goals, aimed at tackling health inequalities across the borough.
Wellbeing Goals will introduce a series of new programmes to engage hundreds of residents living in priority areas of Stockport over the next three years, backed by funding from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund.
The programmes grow the Trust’s community health offering and are designed to empower hundreds of residents living in priority areas of Stockport to live healthier, connected, more resilient lives. Upcoming programmes will seek to tackle:
- Social isolation and loneliness
- Physical inactivity
- Mental ill-health & unemployment
Wellbeing Goals will also support those living with long-term health conditions and their families.
Eddie Owen, Head of Health & Wellbeing at Stockport County Community Trust, said:
“This programme marks a massive step forward in growing our community health offer in Stockport. The fund will help us to significantly grow our programmes across a large area of Stockport, utilising the reach of the club to promote positive mental and physical health.
“We’re incredibly delighted to have been awarded this funding, over the next three years, which will enable us to make a long-lasting impact with a range of targeted community interventions.
“We are really looking forward to the programme starting in early 2026 and seeing the impact that this funding and these new programmes will have to reduce health inequalities in our community.”
In early 2026, Stockport County Community Trust will launch a brand-new timetable, continuing the Trust’s mission to harness the power of football to inspire, educate, and support the community.
