
Caroline Simpson has been named as the recommended candidate to take over from the outgoing Chief Executive of Stockport Council, Pam Smith.
The Council’s Appointments Committee will make its formal recommendation to the Extraordinary Council Meeting on 20th December 2021 following a rigorous selection process.
Caroline is currently one of the Deputy Chief Executives at the Council and Director for Place, and has also previously worked at Cheshire East Council. Earlier this year, she was recognised for her work by winning the Property Personality of the Year Award at Insider’s 2021 North-West Property Awards.
Cllr Elise Wilson, Leader of the Council, said:
“On behalf of the appointments committee, I am delighted to recommend Caroline as our preferred candidate for Stockport’s new chief executive.
“She has extensive experience at a senior level both in Stockport and beyond. She established herself as the outstanding and credible candidate in an incredibly strong field. She showed huge ambition and passion for the people of Stockport.
