Local charity, Stockport and District Mind, had released a short promotional video as the it marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, which this year focuses on the theme of ‘Loneliness’.
Loneliness is affecting more and more of us in the UK and has had a huge impact on our physical and mental health during the pandemic. More than 10 million people in England and Wales will need mental health support over the next three to five years.
Stockport and District Mind’s latest video aims to develop its visibility and accessibility to those in the local community living with a mental health problem. Featured in the video is ‘Stockport Mind Choir’ who meet weekly in the centre of the town and enjoy the positive benefits of singing as a group.
The short film has been produced by Glace Media, who donated their timer to produce the video. Marcus Johnson, Managing Director Glace Media, said:
“We always believe in the power of video to share meaningful messages that impact people’s lives in a positive way. Those who we spoke to as part of the video all had their own individual stories to tell. These stories had a lot of emotion and meaning behind them, meaning that can resonate with others who both connect with what they had to say and are inspired by it.”
Beverley Hart, Chief Officer of Stockport and District Mind added:
“The promotional video produced by Glace Media is already helping us to connect and develop our relationships with organisations and individuals who wish to find out more about the work we do. Thanks to everyone who gave up their time to be filmed; people who play a vital part in contributing to our work.”
Mental Health Awareness Week (9th to 15th May) is a national campaign that has been running in the UK for over 20 years. This year highlights the theme of loneliness, raising awareness of the impact it has on our mental health and the practical steps available to address it.
