The Counter Terrorism Policing team in the North West region are hosting a series of training events for Stockport businesses.
Sessions aim to help local businesses to understand threats and actions they can take to protect their organisations.
Events will take place at The Stockport Plaza in September and October. Sessions on the mornings of September 15th and September 29th offer more general takeaways for businesses and have been designed to raise awareness of the threat from terrorism and actions they can take to protect themselves and their organisation from or during an attack.
On 13th October, from 9.30am, the Counter Terrorism Policing team will run an interactive course for staff who have direct contact with customers and other site users. It covers suspicious activity, the importance of vigilance, the power of hello and how to report.
All courses are free to attend, and places can be booked via Eventbrite using the links below:

The events come as counter terrorism training for businesses becomes more important under the The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 which require public premises to be better prepared and have plans in place to keep people safe in the event of an attack and gained Royal Assent earlier this year. The new law, dubbed Martyn’s Law after one of the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing, Martyn Hett, from Stockport, whose mother, Figen Murray, has been a prominent campaigner for increasing public security requirements at major events.
