Stockport’s recently opened Royal Nawaab restaurant served up more than just delicious food last week: it delivered joy and unforgettable memories to local children supported by the charity Transport for Sick Children.
On 20th August, the Indian Pakistani banqueting restaurant, based in the iconic Stockport Pyramid, invited 15 children and their families for an evening of food, fun, and entertainment. The children were chauffeured to the restaurant either in cars provided by the restaurant or by the Charity’s volunteer drivers where they enjoyed a buffet featuring a wide variety of dishes to suit all tastes, not just Asian cuisine. The evening also included a live magic show, keeping the young guests thoroughly entertained.

After a night filled with laughter and excitement, the families returned home with full hearts, happy memories, and goody bags generously provided by Royal Nawaab.
Marie-Anne Eckersall from Transport for Sick Children shared her appreciation:
“We are absolutely thrilled that Royal Nawaab chose to support us with such a special evening. For many of the children, this was a one-of-a-kind experience. We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity shown, not just from us as a charity, but on behalf of all the families who attended. It truly reflects their commitment to the local community.”
Although it only opened three months ago, Royal Nawaab has already earned a place on the Asian Catering Federation’s prestigious list of the UK’s Top 100 Asian Restaurants.
The opening of Royal Nawaab in Stockport marks a return to Greater Manchester roots for the business, originally founded in Levenshulme. The restaurant has already made a significant impact, not only by revitalising the iconic Pyramid building but also by working with local suppliers during its refurbishment. This latest charitable gesture highlights its ongoing dedication to giving back to the community.
Founder Mahboob Hussain shared more about the restaurant’s mission and community involvement in a recent interview with Marketing Stockport.
Transport for Sick Children is a Stockport-based charity that relies on a network of volunteer drivers, who use their own cars to transport children and their carers across Greater Manchester to essential medical appointments. They’re always looking for new volunteer drivers; if you can help, please visit their website for more information.
