Robinsons are continuing to invest in their pub programme as the Alvanley Arms at Cotebrook has re-opened after a nine-week refurbishment.
The joint investment from Robinsons Brewery and the licensees saw Harry and Julie Challinor work hand-in-hand with Robinsons in-house design team to rejuvenate and modernise the former traditional country inn.

Internally, the pub received a structural overhaul; removing obstructing walls to open up and improve the connectivity of the trading areas. In addition, a new bar has been made; housing four hand pulls serving Robinsons award-winning cask ales and a new coffee station.
However, the biggest change was the transformation of what was the old plant room into a new dining area; increasing the pub’s seating capacity. The décor itself is made up of a palette of rich, warming colours, a mixture of leather and velvet seating, new fireplaces, a built in full height log store and bespoke shelving. All offset by stylish feature wallpaper, mood lighting, and high-quality timber flooring with a striking stair runner and Persian rug.
Harry Challinor, said: “Working with Robinsons has been fantastic. They have a constant vision, to walk into a pub and transform the design and atmosphere without diminishing the old charm and character is a pure talent.”
Externally, the pub is fully prepared for spring with the installation of a new lighting package, Robinsons trademark copper signage, and a fresh planting scheme. The pinnacle is the outside terrace; which is sure to prove popular in summer months as customers take in the fantastic views of the lake to the east and watch the sun set in the west… with a pint of Robbies’ finest, of course.
John Hughes, Business Developer Manager for Robinsons, commented: “The Alvanley Arms is a true asset to both Robinsons and the local community. We’re confident that the pub has a very bright future in the hands of Harry and Julie.”
Concluding, Harry added: “Julie and I have been with Robinsons for nearly eight years now (previously at the Derby Arms Treales) and have been proud publicans for over twenty years. Throughout our careers, we can both agree that Robinsons is the best brewery to work for – always providing the support, advice and encouragement needed to help us run our business. We cannot praise the team enough for their hard work and dedication. The reactions off our regulars has been fantastic!”
The Alvanley Arms is now open and serving Robinsons’ award-winning cask ales, delicious meals and taking room bookings.
