Developer, Xpercity, has submitted a planning application to Stockport Council for the residential conversion of the former AA offices in Cheadle into over 100 apartments.
Xpercity’s ambitions for Lambert House were made known earlier this year when the developer purchased the property, formerly used by the AA and unoccupied since the business’ departure. The formal planning submission for the scheme, dubbed Weavers Yard, has now been lodged with the council, and sets out detailed plans for converting the 60,000 sq ft office development into 107 apartments.
Alongside the apartments, which will comprise a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, Xpercity’s plans for Weavers Yard also include a gym for residents, and cycle storage for 108 bikes. The scheme will also make use of the site’s existing 279 surface car parking spaces, with provision made for 11 disabled spaces and a total of 31 EV spaces.
Xpercity’s plans for the property follow a previous application by developer Empire Property Concepts to deliver 98 apartments on the site. Despite the scheme being granted approval, work did not go ahead following the developer falling into administration and resulting in the sale of Lambert House to Xpercity.
Xpercity is part of the newly launched BR2.0 Group of property sector companies, which also includes. The scheme is the developer’s first foray into the Stockport market.
On announcing the purchase of the former AA offices earlier this year, Mike Lomas, Founder and CEO, Xpercity, commented:
“This is a project we’re really excited by. We’ve worked with some of the best names in the industry to bring together a development that will provide much-needed residential accommodation to this part of the city, whilst delivering something new, fresh and always of the highest quality.
“Since officially launching Xpercity, we have pushed on in terms of the level of deals we are doing. Our end-to-end offer means we’re motivated and able to act quickly to secure sites with high-potential and start creating better living environments quickly. Our ambitions are always underpinned by creating a strong sense of social good for the communities we work in, and Weavers Yard is no exception.”
London-based Damion Marcus Burrows are architects on the scheme; CV Planning advised Xpercity on the planning application.
