Residential developer, Xpercity, has completed the purchase of the former AA offices, Lambert House in Cheadle, with plans to convert the building into over 100 apartments.
The developer is proposing an office-to-residential conversion of the 60,000 sq ft Lambert House to deliver Weavers’ Yard, a 106-apartment scheme comprising a mix of both build-to-rent and build-to-sell homes.
The scheme is the developer’s first in Stockport, and Xpercity have worked with London-based Damion Marcus Burrows Architects on plans for the 3.5 acre site.
Mike Lomas, Founder and CEO, Xpercity, commented:
“This is a project we’re really excited by. We’ve worked with some of the best names in the industry to bring together a development that will provide much-needed residential accommodation to this part of the city, whilst delivering something new, fresh and always of the highest quality.
“Since officially launching Xpercity, we have pushed on in terms of the level of deals we are doing. Our end-to-end offer means we’re motivated and able to act quickly to secure sites with high-potential and start creating better living environments quickly. Our ambitions are always underpinned by creating a strong sense of social good for the communities we work in, and Weavers Yard is no exception.”
Xpercity is part of the newly launched BR2.0 Group of property sector companies, which also includes Big Red Construction, and have earlier this year announced a ‘war chest’ to invest in residential schemes across the North and Midlands of England.
Xpercity’s plans for the scheme follow a successful planning application last year to convert Lambert House into 98 apartments, however, developer Empire Property Concepts since fell into administration, halting plans, with the property remaining empty since the AA’s departure.
