The One Stockport Hub on Mersey Square in the town centre is to become a vaccine centre only to ensure as many as possible can get the booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of the year.
The hub, which has been regularly used for pop-up clinics, will temporarily be used full time for administering the jabs and allow hundreds more Stopfordians to access the vaccine in the fight against the Omicron variant. Opening times for walk-in vaccination centres in Stockport this December are available here.
It’s estimated that 1,800 people will have been boosted at the One Stockport Hub centre this week alone, proving its amazing popularity among Stockport residents.
Residents can continue to access library services and IT facilities at Central Library and other libraries across the borough while services the One Stockport Hub are not available. Some Stockport libraries have Open+ facilities, which allow them to be open for longer hours, so residents can use PCs, borrow and return books at a time more convenient to them.
Councillor Jude Wells, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Health at Stockport Council added:
“So far, the people of Stockport have been incredible at getting their first and second vaccinations when eligible. With the worrying rise of Omicron across the country, its vital that everyone gets their booster dose if it’s been 3 months after your second jab. Moving library services temporarily from One Stockport Hub will allow us to deliver more booster vaccinations, and help meet the government’s target of all adults being able to get boosted by the end of the year.”
“We ask patience and understanding from residents regarding this decision.”
