Mayor of Stockport, Cllr Adrian Nottingham, has written to businesses across the borough to invite them to work with him to support local community groups.
Following the collaboration between local business and community organisations during the coronavirus pandemic, the Mayor has called for businesses to once again work together to deliver growth, sustainability and inclusive and health communities in the borough as it recovers.
The Mayor of Stockport has explained his call for businesses to support communities in Stockport in a short, two-minute video, available online here.
In his letter, Cllr Adrian Nottingham said:
My ask of you is to explore with me how you might cooperate with your local communities to drive forward local economic growth alongside the development of inclusive and healthy communities. If you would like to discuss this further, I would certainly value the opportunity to have a two-way conversation with you.
In addition to asking for your support to stimulate cross sector working, I would hugely value any involvement you be able to give me with one of the significant fundraising activities that I have planned for the first half of 2022. As the Mayor of Stockport for this municipal year (ends mid May), I aim to raise £30,000 for Sector3 to enable them to push forward with their strategic work of strengthening the capacity, sustainability and reach of our vital Stockport Voluntary, Charity and Community sector.
The Mayor of Stockport has organised two fundraising events for Spring 2022 and is calling on businesses to help support them:
- The Stopford House Abseil. 26th March from midday onwards. Free to enter, with each individual or team to raise as much money as possible for the Stockport Mayor’s Charity.
- The Stockport Mayor’s Ball, 1st April from 6.30pm in our wonderful Town Hall Ball Room. Tickets £50. A fun packed evening of food, dancing and entertainment.
Cllr Nottingham concluded:
I genuinely believe that joining me on this journey will bring benefits to us both and so please do contact me on either cllr.a.nottingham@stockport.gov.uk.
