Stockport-based social enterprise healthcare provider, Mastercall, is raising awareness of a Greater Manchester-wide service for people without a dentist to access urgent dental care.
Operated by Mastercall alongside Greater Manchester Urgent Primary Care Alliance (GMUPCA) partners, the GM Urgent Dental Care Telephony Service enables all Greater Manchester residents, as well as temporary visitors to the area, to access appointments for urgent dental treatment or advice. Daytime appointments are only available to patients without a dentist, while evening, weekend and Bank Holiday appointments are open to all.
Accessible by calling 0333 332 3800 between 8am and 10pm Monday to Sunday, the service can help connect those with urgent dental problems find a local urgent appointment, support with urgent care and provide same day advice and help to manage a problem. Urgent conditions include dental and soft tissue infections, severe dental or facial pain that cannot be controlled following self-help advice, and fractured teeth.
Following triage over the phone, patients will be offered a same day or next day appointment, given advice or signposted to other services. Appointments are confirmed by text message and, as of April 2025, carry a fee of £27.40.
Patients can still call NHS 111 for urgent dental advice outside of the GM Urgent Dental Care Telephony Service’s operating hours.
