Ryanair has announced the launch of a new route from Manchester Airport to Rabat, the fifth route from the airport to Morocco and its only to the country’s capital.
The twice-weekly service to Rabat-Salé Airport will commence from Sunday 30th March, and make Manchester Airport the second UK airport alongside London Stansted to offer a direct connection to the Moroccan capital city.
The launch of a fifth route to the country comes as Morocco has surged in popularity with British holidaymakers, who are attracted by the year-round sunshine, grand architecture and cultural sights, and reasonable prices.
Nearly half a million passengers flew to Morocco from Manchester in 2024, up from 275,000 in 2023, and 260,000 or so in 2019, with flights from the airport already operating to Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakesh and Agadir.
Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airport, said:
“We are proud to connect the people of the North to the places they want to go to – and we know Morocco is somewhere they increasingly want to explore. That’s why it’s exciting that Ryanair is launching this direct route to Rabat from Manchester, only the second such service from a UK airport. The city offers an unforgettable experience, and at great value for money too. I am sure this new route will prove popular with passengers.”
