December marks 15 years of package holiday company and airline, Jet2.com, flights from Manchester Airport, who have flown 20 million holidaymakers from the city.
Passengers on a flight to Budapest got to celebrate with a piece of cake, in honour of Jet2.com’s first flight from Manchester Airport also travelling to the Hungarian capital. Since 2004, the company has grown from flying to just three destinations to 63 and has grown to become the UK’s third largest airline thanks to its commitment to improving customer service.
The airline continues to outperform other low-cost competitors in customer satisfaction and experience, having won a catalogue of awards in 2019 including Best Short-Haul Airline at Telegraph Travel Awards 2019, and five awards at the 2019 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards (Best Airline – UK, Best Airline – Europe, Best Low Cost Airline – Europe, Best Economy Class – Europe and Top 10 Airlines of the World).
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said on the day of the anniversary:
Today marks 15 years of Jet2.com flying from Manchester Airport and it offers the opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved since we launched. VIP customer service, friendly low fares, and great flight times are just some of the values that mattered to customers 15 years ago and these are just as important today.
“We have grown considerably in the North West since we launched our first flight from Manchester Airport a decade and a half ago, and this is all down to the support and loyalty from holidaymakers and independent travel agents across the region. As we look towards to the future, our values remain as strong as they did back then, and we look forward to further success and growth at Manchester Airport.”
Jet2.com’s presence at Manchester Airport will continue to expand in 2020, as the company has agreed to take over openings left by the collapse of Thomas Cook (as the airline also did after Monarch’s collapse), and is offering three million seats for sale in summer 2020. The airline has also employed over 120 ex-Thomas Cook staff, including pilots, cabin crew and engineers across the UK.
