Housing group, Great Places, has donated £10,000 to the #KeepStockportCaring campaign, set up by Sector3 to support voluntary, charity and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations during the Covid-19 crisis.
Equity Foundation made the donation on behalf of Manchester-based Great Places Housing Group, with the group having merged with Cheadle-based Equity Housing earlier this year. The Foundation works to support community and social enterprises to achieve their ambition and is funded through a percentage of the housing group’s surplus. Stockport’s voluntary groups have seen increased demand and decreased resources during the coronavirus outbreak. The #KeepStockportCaring campaign aims to secure extra help to ensure they can continue their vital work.
Many local organisations and charities in Stockport have seen a dramatic drop in revenue and lost volunteers to self-isolation, all at a time when they have seen an unprecedented rise in demand for their services. These key services need protecting for the whole of the Stockport community and for the future.
Jo Hannan, Great Places’ Social Impact Manager who manages the Equity Foundation, commented:
We are delighted to support this campaign. The work of the VCSE sector in Stockport is crucial to the community, particularly at this challenging time.”
So far the #KeepStockportCaring campaign has raised over £27,000 and all money raised will be invested back into the sector to build their resilience and help them recover.
