As Christmas trees start to go up in homes across Stockport, local charity Seashell is inviting residents to start thinking about how they will dispose of their tree in the New Year.
The Stockport-based charity is once again partnering with Just Helping for their Greater Manchester Christmas Tree-Cycle Appeal.
Last year, Seashell was one of the local charities to receive a donation from the appeal. For the coming festive season, the organisation plans to be taking part on a much bigger scale, and to make an even greater impact in the community and help transform the young lives of those with the most complex disabilities.
Funds raised through this community initiative will go into JustHelping’s Community Pot, which supports local charities including Seashell. A team of amazing volunteers (including members of the Seashell team!) will be out collecting real Christmas trees in exchange for a donation.
How to take part
- Register your tree before 23:59 on 6th January 2026 – Click here to register
- Leave your tree out by 8am on 9th January 2026 in a visible and accessible location
- Remove all decorations including a pot or base
- Wait for your tree to be collected between 9th-12th January 2026
Just Helping cannot enter properties or back gardens; for collections from an apartment block, please seek permission from the property manager to leave the tree outside.
Suggested donations are £20, but the appeal is grateful for any amount that can be spared.
