Stockport Council’s 14 – 19 Services, week-long work experience placement, has inspired six students from Stockport College.
The students, studying Business and IT, had the opportunity to gain skills and see the connection between their subject area and the world of work.
The students participated in numerous tasks, including auditing for a desk utilization project, creating profile-raising material for the Apprenticeships Store, using social media to advertise the Apprenticeships Store, and upgrading and repairing computers.
Councillor Shan Alexander, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Safe & Resilient Communities, said: “Through the work experience programme, our local students had the opportunity to do a range of administrative, promotional and technological activities, which will ultimately help them advance into a career of their choice.
“We had very positive feedback from the students who said they were able to improve on their communication skills and team work, as well as gain experience of a working environment. This work experience opportunity will also enhance their CV, which will be useful when they apply for a job, an apprenticeship or university.”
