Changes are afoot as a consultation period begins over the future for Stockport College Gym
Stockport College is currently in consultation regarding the proposed closure of the campus gym facilities at Wellington Road South.
The gym is set to close on 30th September 2017.

Stockport College in consultation over future of its gym
The reason behind the move is that the current facilities require significant investment for remedial work.
Given that Stockport College are now planning to redevelop the current site by 2020, to invest heavily in remedial works at this time would be inappropriate.
Stockport College are currently in talks with external partners regarding both the gym and boxing facilities.
A spokesperson said “We will be taking on board the views of all stakeholders prior to making any formal decision.”
The announcement regarding the proposed closure comes soon after is was formally announced last week that Stockport College and Trafford College have announced their intention to merge in order to create a single, larger and more sustainable college that is better able to meet the current and future needs of students, employers and the local community.
Both colleges will retain their existing campuses, names and identities.
The merger will create a significant educational provider in South Manchester, supporting the success of over 14,000 students and apprentices, 700 staff and with a combined turnover of around £37million.
