David Wilson Homes, part of major housebuilder Barratt Redrow Homes, has launched a public consultation on plans to build around 450 new homes east of Woodford Garden Village.
Plans for the Upper Swineseye Farm site are the latest major housing development to be proposed in Woodford, alongside an extension of Woodford Garden Village, development off Chester Road and smaller schemes along the A555 Manchester Airport Link Road. If all schemes are approved, development could see around 2,000 new homes built in the village.
David Wilson Homes’ Woodford proposals will see around 450 homes built on a 20.69 ha site that will extend the village up to the newly-built A523 Roy Chadwick Way. Around half of properties are to be made available as affordable housing, which will comprise a mix of 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-bedroom homes.
The scheme will also preserve existing rights of way through the site, with only around 12 hectares of the site given over to residential development, with the remaining open spaces preserved and landscaped to enhance biodiversity.
A community consultation, including online questionnaire is being conducted by David Wilson Homes ahead of a formal planning application being submitted to Stockport Council, and will close on Monday 13th October 2025.
