Thinking about a career in Construction? STUDENTS are being invited to a Construction, Engineering & Automotive Open Day at Stockport College on Saturday June 29th between 10am and 1pm.
Taking place in the Joan Bakewell building, the facilities will be open to employers, suppliers and new applicants and families who will be able to meet with some of the 540 employers and suppliers who have also been invited to attend the event.
Also on hand will be tutors and existing students, to discuss the courses and different careers available in construction.

Head of Carpentry & Joinery Barry Goodwin, said:
“It’s crucial for us as Construction leaders to deliver vital skills to our students. This will ensure that students leave the college with the knowledge needed to achieve business success in an increasingly competitive market.
“All the options offered by Stockport College focus on employability and enterprise skills, ensuring that when students leave us, they are highly employable, agile and resilient.
“We have already forged excellent links with local construction firms such as Howdens and MAN Diesel and this event is aimed at reaffirming these relations.”
College staff will be giving presentations on the range of qualifications and training available and will be on hand to answer any queries regarding both full and part-time courses.

“The construction industry is a major source of employment and provides a wide variety of career opportunities.
“The college has invested heavily in creating a specialist centre here in the Joan Building. We aim to provide students with all the practical experience and knowledge needed to give them a positive kick-start to their career”.

Demonstrations including: Roofing demo, Try your hand at Engineering and make key fobs to take home using the CNC machine, practical surveying demonstration & dog handling demo.
