A group of 24 employees at Cheadle-based finance provider Together have climbed the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours to raise funds for St Ann’s Hospice.
The charity provides care and support to people in Greater Manchester affected by life limiting illnesses.
Known as the National Three Peaks Challenge, and co-ordinated by experts at Active Mountaineering, the group proudly conquered Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon, climbing 10,000 metres and walking 26 miles.
The colleagues aimed to raise £7,500 from their expedition and not only met, but exceeded that, with a total of close to £12k. The total climbing time was around 14 hours, with additional time for travel, and the challenge was completed in 24 hours.
St Ann’s Hospice was selected as the charity for the challenge following colleague nominations, with some of the group having friends or relatives that had received outstanding care at the Stockport hospice.
Jo Burton, Corporate Fundraiser at St Ann’s Hospice said: “We were so pleased to be chosen by Together as the charity for their Three Peaks Challenge and are really grateful to the colleagues who put themselves through such a test of endurance to help us raise essential funds.”
Kevin Fisher, HR director at Together added: “We’re strongly committed to community engagement and are really proud of our colleagues for taking on such a tough expedition to raise funds for St Ann’s Hospice.
“They worked really hard to prepare for this and it’s great to know that the money they’ve raised will go to such a worthy cause.”
