Stockport County Supporters Co-operative partners with local credit union

The Stockport County Supporters’ Co-operative has announced a new partnership with Stockport Credit Union built on their shared commitment to supporting the local community.

Credit unions provide a safe and secure alternative to high-cost lenders, helping members avoid payday lenders and illegal loan sharks. They offer straightforward financial services with no hidden fees, fair and transparent interest rates, and flexible repayment options designed to meet members’ needs rather than maximise profits.

Michelle Clegg, CEO of Stockport Credit Union, said:

The Supporters’ Co-operative believes this partnership will strengthen the relationship between two member-owned organisations while providing practical financial benefits for Stockport County supporters and the wider community.

Dave Marchbank, Chair of the Supporters’ Co-operative, said:

“One obvious way our two organisations can hidden work together is by helping supporters save towards their season tickets while borrowing any remaining balance. As prices continue to rise each year, putting aside a modest amount each month can make purchasing a season ticket for the 2027–28 season much more affordable.”
