Since its launch in October the new training school from Souter PR has attracted interest from over 50 businesses, ten of which have sent 30 employees through the process, which is designed to make companies better publishers of their own content.
Working with communications professionals Content Academy has drawn the best together to teach basic skills on news, photography, video and social media – the key components of a powerful narrative around a business.
Sue Souter of Content Academy (pictured centre left) said:
“The original idea was driven by business reporters asking us for stories, but I also knew there was a more fundamental need to get better story-telling going in general. Google is demanding it from websites, Twitter and Linkedin and other platforms are wholly reliant on it, traditional media want it from us as their head counts dwindle. It will be at the heart of every marketing programme going forward in the future.
“Stories also differentiate us – and this is the bit that I find the most exciting. Because it’s great fun to tell a story unique to you and hugely satisfying when people engage.”
Sue is doing a free Content Academy Taster session next Wednesday at 10am-12noon at Souter PR’s offices in The Courtyard on Stanley Green Business Park. Email Sue to register interest sue@souterpr.co.uk
Chelsea Maher, Marketing Executive at Clarke Nicklin Accountants, said:
“I have found all the courses very interesting with lots of practical tips that we have been able to put into practice. The editorial session resulted in some really good ideas, and was perhaps the most useful as it pulled everything together tailored to our business. It gave us a solid base to plan our activity for this year, which will be very much content focused.”
