Housebuilder, Anwyl Homes, and site owner, Muse, have set out proposals for a development of 54 new homes on a roughly 4.5-acre plot at Cheadle Royal Business Park.
Plans submitted to Stockport Council propose a mix of 54 one- to four-bedroom dwellings, which will include 30% affordable housing provision on a site next to the Cheadle Royal development’s lake off the Brooks Drive and Lakeside roads.
The site currently solely comprises commercial properties, with occupiers including Together, CN Group, and Wienerberger, as well as a David Lloyd health club and Premier Inn hotel.
Development will also include approximately one acre of shared public green space that will preserve an existing mature tree on the plot. The application also notes that Muse is in discussions with care provider to build a new care facility to the North of the plot.
A pre-application consultation on the scheme has already been carried out by the developers, and included the leafleting of around 400 business and residential properties in the area, with only a single objection to the scheme received. Developers also ruled out the use of solar panels on homes, following discussion with Manchester Airport staff. The consultation also noted concerns from Stockport Council’s planning officers and local ward councillors regarding the loss of green space and potential employment space.
Anwyl Homes and Muse have been supported in the planning application for the scheme by Asteer Planning and APD.
