
Britain’s successful value home and garden retailers, Wilko, open the doors to its new Stockport store tomorrow, with give-aways for the first 100 customers.
Independently owned Wilko is opening at at the Peel Centre where the retailer is giving away £20 gift cards to the first 100 customers from 9am!
To mark the special occasion, the Mayor of Stockport Councillor Linda Holt, will lead a ceremonial ribbon cutting along with Penny Hamer, a representive from Alzheimer’s Society, Wilko Supply Chain Director, Mark Hale, and Wilko Stockport Branch Manager, Mandy Wassall-Billu.

The launch day activity will include:
- £20 gift cards for the first 100 shoppers
- Jazz band greeting customers outside the store
The fun is set to continue into the week, as the store will host a kids craft station on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 October. Plus, there will be complimentary Halloween confectionary for shoppers on the 28 and 29 October.
Wilko Stockport Manager, Mandy Wassall-Billu, said:
“The team is busy preparing the final touches to the store ahead of the official opening on Wednesday 25 October.
“We are very excited to welcome the customers to come and see our wide range of products at everyday stay low prices. We know shoppers will be impressed by the quality and value we have to offer this autumn. It’s the perfect time to come and browse our collections.
“We’ve got lots of exciting things planned for the launch day including £20 gift cards for the first 100 customers through the door so we hope everyone can come and join us to celebrate Wilko’s new home at The Peel Centre.”
Founded in 1930 as Wilkinson Stores by J K Wilkinson, Wilko is one of the UK’s largest and best-loved retailers.
Wilko remains a third generation, family-owned business after more than 85 years of trading. JK Wilkinson opened the first Wilko store in 1930 and since then the company’s portfolio has expanded significantly with 411 stores across the UK.
