Wilko, one of Britain’s best loved value home and garden retailers, is to open a new store in Stockport which will create 40 new jobs in the town.
The Nottinghamshire based company has signed a lease for a new store 8,200 square foot store at The Peel Centre in Stockport.
As a key shopping destination in the area, The Peel Centre attracts more than five million shoppers a year and Wilko is keen to bring its wide variety of product ranges to shoppers in Stockport.
Retail Director, Anthony Houghton said:
“We are delighted to have signed the lease at The Peel Centre and are looking forward to serving the local community from October and for many years to come.”
Wilko is committed to its new store launch plan and The Peel Centre store will open with a new simplified team structure, building a sustainable business for the future. It will bring over 40 job opportunities to the local area.
The company is headquartered in Worksop – launched numerous new stores across the UK in 2017.
Founded in 1930 as Wilkinson Stores by J K Wilkinson, it remains a third generation, family-owned business after more than 85 years of trading. JK Wilkinson opened the first Wilko store in 1930 and since then the company’s portfolio has expanded significantly with 408 stores across the UK.
Key product ranges include homewares and furnishings, garden and outdoor lifestyle products, DIY and decorating and health & beauty.
Wilko secured the highest level of customer satisfaction on the high street, according to the UK Customer Satisfaction Index (UKCSI) July 2016.
