Children’s healthcare charity, Action for Sick Children recently visited Moss Hey primary school in Bramhall as part of their ‘Dental Playbox’ project, partly funded by Vernon Building Society.
The project is designed to help young children learn both the importance of healthy eating and what to expect when visiting the dentist, through play.
Research by the charity suggests that 23% of 5 year olds in the Stockport area have decayed, missing & filled teeth.
Leading the Dental Playbox session, Andrea, said
“In addition to educating children about the importance of good oral health through fun and engaging classroom sessions, we also seek to foster relationships with other professionals in order to improve oral health outcomes for all children.”
Action for Sick Children receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity of its members, corporate and public donations.
The play session was also attended by representatives of the Vernon Building Society, following a donation by the Society’s Jubilee Fund in 2015.
Customer Service Adviser at the Vernon, Lucy Burnside, said
“It is extremely rewarding to see first-hand how the Jubilee Fund helps local charity and community groups. I was very impressed with Andrea’s enthusiasm and interaction with the children who clearly gained so much from this session.”
