Stockport mortgage lender Vernon Building Society is hosting a Rock ‘n’ Roll concert to benefit Stockport Foodbank and the Furniture Station featuring their fantastic championship winning Brass Band performing a variety of music from the Beatles, Queen, Meatloaf, Bryan Adams and the Rolling Stones as well as a number of jazz and classical hits.
The concert will be held on Friday 16th October from 7:30pm at Hazel Grove Baptist Church, a venue that boasts a fantastic staging area for musical performances. Tickets for last year’s ‘Big Band and Swing Night’ sold out, raising over £1500 for the charities involved.
Joanne Watson, Fundraiser at Hazel Grove based the Furniture Station said:
“We’re all really happy that the Vernon has once again chosen to raise funds in aid of the work we carry out. Into our 21st year, The Furniture Station continue to assist those in need in Stockport with the provision of re-used furniture items.
“Through this ongoing work, we aim to relieve poverty, prevent homelessness and support vulnerable people & their families to maintain their tenancy.
“With just 6 staff and 27 volunteers, our organisation were delighted to receive The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service earlier this year; the highest award a volunteer group can receive.”

Joanne added:
“I have no doubt that this will be an exceptional evening as it has been in the past. Supporting the event will help us continue our work to ensure families and individuals in Stockport are able to establish a more stable, independent lifestyle.”
Tickets for this event are available in advance from Hazel Grove Baptist Church or any of the Vernon’s six local branches for just £5 all of which will go to Stockport Foodbank and the Furniture Station. Buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
