HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) have recently announced they are to target some 50,000 businesses that have failed to submit VAT returns and have warned that if the VAT returns are still outstanding after 28 February 2013 their tax affairs “will receive closer attention from HMRC.”
The campaign is aimed at businesses that are registered for VAT but have one or more returns still outstanding.
HMRC have indicated that the VAT Outstanding Returns Campaign is an opportunity for a business to bring their VAT returns and payments up to date and to take advantage of “the best possible terms”.
Booth Ainsworth LLP in Stockport will be happy to discuss any VAT issues.
